Canto do Uirapuru 'Song of the Musician Wren' was commissioned in 2022 by The Cooper Competition, Sibbi Bernhardsson, director. Seohyun Kim, a 13-year-old violinist from Seoul, South Korea, was named the top prize winner of the competition created and funded by Thomas and Evon Cooper and held in Oberlin Conservatory’s Warner Concert Hall on Friday, August 19, 2022

About the work:
The piece is programmatic, depicting the journey of a lost bird. An Uirapuru that finds itself far from its habitat, the Amazon of Brazil. The work features transcribed bird calls of the melodious fowl.
