Für Meinen Vater
for
Soprano and String Quintet
Für Meinen Vater (For My Father) was commissioned in 2019 by Music Kitchen, founded by violinist Kelly Hall-Tompkins, who has brought chamber music to people nationwide who experience homelessness. The commission was the Food for the Soul, Song Cycle project, in celebration of the 100th concert and 15th season, featuring text by homeless shelter clients.
Ensemble: Soprano Voice, (or Tenor) String Quartet plus Double Bass
Für Meinen Vater premiered at Carnegie Hall on April 10th, 2022, with Allison Charney, soprano, Kelly Hall-Tompkins and Ling-Ling Huang, violins, Andrew Gonzalez, viola, Peter Seidenberg, cello and John-Paul Norpoth, double bass.
